JAMMU, Aug 2: Junior doctors and medical interns today suspended their work at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, opposing the magisterial probe against the doctors for their alleged negligence into the death of youth Sukhbir Singh.
Angry doctors suspended all services including emergency and said they would continue their strike for next 48 hours if the administration did not withdraw magisterial probe.
The doctors resumed emergency services after three hours negotiations, but warned that they will again suspend work if the administration continues with the probe.
On Monday Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal had ordered judicial inquiry in the death of 10th class student in Government Medical College (GMC) who had sustained injuries after being stabbed at Shastri Nagar. The inquiry will be conducted by ADC Sheetal Nanda and Inderjeet Khajuria.
The incident had occurred on Saturday, when the victim was coming out of the coaching centre.
Earlier in the morning the family members of the victim Sukhbir Singh held a demonstration outside medical college and demanded suspension of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and other doctors for their negligence.
A 10th standard student Sukhbir Singh, was brutally stabbed by Jaspreet Singh at Shastri Nagar on Saturday after some trivial issue.
Police had already filed a case FIR No-185/2011/U/S 302/34 RPC, 4/25 Arms act at Gandhi Nagar police station and is investigating the matter.
“Frequently, there are attacks by the relatives of the patients on the doctors. There is a general problem of security in the hospitals. We had repeatedly been demanding proper security in the hospital but we have been assurances only,” an angry junior doctor said.

They alleged that medical staff present in the emergency block did not provided necessary help to the victim and he died due to excessive bleeding.
Later they met principal GMC Dr Rajinder Singh and urged him to take action against the doctors present on that day in the emergency ward.
