Two youth detained by police in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested two students suspected of sending an e-mail claiming responsibility for a bomb blast at New Delhi's High Court recently in which 13 people have lost their lives. 


The e-mail, which was sent in the name of Pakistan-based militant group Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (Huji) was traced to the internet café in the mountainous district of the state, after which a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team was sent to the remote district. 


Arrested youth have been identified as Abid Hussain and Sharik Butt. Sources said that both the boys aged either 17 or 18, were tracked down after questioning of the internet cafe owners and people using its computers when the email was sent. 

"We have arrested two people suspected of sending the e-mail," a police officer said, declining to give his name. He said the arrests were made a few days ago.
 


Initially police had detained five people in connection with the blast in New Delhi after email which claimed to have taken responsibility for the blast was traced to Kishtwar district. But they were released later. 


Sources said that two college students and three people who were managing the cyber café were detained for the questioning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). 


Investigators traced the Bangladesh-based terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HuJI) email claiming responsibility to a cybercafe in Kishtwar in J&K and detained its owner Mehmood Khawja and two others for questioning.
